Right here in Miami, we hand-make beautiful boat mats (also known as boarding mats, marine mats or boarding pads) out of long-lasting, durable Sunbrella marine canvas (available in 73 colors), and each one measures 381/2 inches x 171/2 inches.
Each mat is triple-layered, with Sunbrella on the top, 1/2 inch foam in the middle, and then the non-skid fabric on the bottom. We can custom-make them in different sizes too for larger or smaller boats. The mat lies over the cockpit gunwale and is secured by a rubber gripper on the bottom (non-slip) and sand weighted ends. Each mat is made with a safety "non-slip" grip on the reverse side to prevent the mat from sliding or slipping as seen below.
Each end of the boat mat has been subtly sewn with weight, so it stays in place even on a breezy day without having to screw it down or secure it in place (see below).
